Community Care Day 2013

COMMUNITY CARE DAY… WHAT IS IT?
WHAT
Our annual Community Care Day is a volunteer event that mobilizes hundreds of people in our area to help those in need. Participants assist local non-profit organizations in completing a variety of projects, such as painting rooms or playground equipment, assisting clients with daily activities, repairing or building a home or facility, outdoor clean-up, stocking inventory at food pantries and resurfacting a parking lot.
Community Care Day projects are completed by students and teams of employees from companies throughout Fairfield County. Sites include community servics agencies, United Way-funded organizations, schools, playgrounds and client homes.

COMMUNICATION FROM UNITED WAY
Project Coordinator (person coordinating a specific project) should speak directly with the Company Coordinators (people coordinating the volunteer team for their company) as Community Care Day approaches. It is essential those volunteers know what to expect and that both parties are prepared. Good communication leads to very successful projects! Have fun!
2012 Recap
Volunteers came together in a big way for Community Care Day 2012. Over 320 volunteers participated
at 47 project sites giving the gift of time to local non-profits. This year's event included the Fisher Catholic junior and senior classes, community members and local business volunteers.
As written by Carl Burnett Jr. of the Eagle Gazette "At the Maywood Mission in Lancaster, two groups were helping out.
Fisher Catholic students Michelle Bowes, Cat Brown and Cori Walters were helping clean and organize the second-hand store and food pantry.
At the same time employees with Fairfield Federal were painting a hallway in the building.
One of the people working the paint brush and roller was Judy Root, president of the bank. 'We've been volunteering for these projects since the United Way began them,' Root said. 'These are community projects that improve our community and we are a community bank. It's a great way to give back to our own community.'
Root said many of the employees donating their time this year have been doing it for years. 'They love it,' Root said. 'It's great to get out of the dress suits and help out.'"
The United Way of Fairfield County would like to sincerely thank all of the volunteers who made this day possible. Thank you for choosing to LIVE UNITED!
