Poverty exists throughout Fairfield County and in 2013 more than 17,500 residents lived below the poverty line, which for a family of four is an annual income of $24,250! Basic needs services are vital to individuals with chronic conditions, those on a limited, fixed income and families in crisis needing temporary support while they work to get back on their feet.
