WHY IT MATTERS

In Fairfield County, hardworking individuals and families are finding it difficult to keep up financially. The cost of living continues to rise while wages seem to be faltering. If individuals and families are to realize long-term financial stability and independence, they must have access to tools and resources to maximize their income and help them begin to build assets for themselves and the next generation. United Way's VITA site offers free tax filing assistance to help low and moderate-income residents claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and maximize their federal and state refunds.
