DECREASE RISK FACTORS AMONG YOUTH


Target:
By 2016, 33% of high school seniors will report having never used alcohol, 65% will report never having used marijuana, 85.7% will report having never used another person's prescription for non-medical purposes, and 98% will report having never used heroin.

Strategies:
• Decrease substance abuse rates
• Increase self-esteem
• Decrease teen pregnancy rate
• Decrease dating violence and abuse rates, exploitation and violence experienced or witnessed
• Decrease number of child abuse and neglect cases

Progress:
Big Brothers Big Sisters - Mentoring

• 60% of children served in match relationships showed improvement in 71% of the developmental asset areas measured

Boy Scouts - Traditional Scouting
• 69% retention as of 6-30-13
• 75% advancement as of 6-30-13
• 96% of Cub Scouts says Scouting has helped them make good choices

The Recovery Center - Prevention Services
• 86% of students maintained or increased their knowledge of resistance / decision-making skills
• 91% of students maintained or increased their knowledge of harmful consequences of drug use
